The company, known then as Hastwell Media, was established in 1972 by the late Harry Hastwell. Harry and his son Mark built an enviable reputation as leaders in the media and advertising industries in South Australia and Australia.

In 1989, after close to ten years with News Corp, Tom Raggatt joined the organisation thus HWR became Hastwell Williamson Raggatt Pty Ltd.
For thirty-eight years HWR has evolved into one of the largest independent media representation organisations in Australia. Currently over 100 media organisations entrust HWR to provide advice and information on their behalf to customers in South Australia,
Western Australia, Queensland, Victoria and the Northern Territory.
Market Evolvement
In response to our customers’ needs, in 1996 HWR purchased graphic design firm, Smart Designs and expanded both its publishing and marketing services area. This was a significant milestone.
In addition, at this time we began our digital integration strategy, completing work for General Motors Holden amongst other clients.
The development role has now expanded to a full service digital agency providing advertising sales, web site development, email marketing and performance measurement.
